17 illegal migrants found from cramped into RV, sedan in sweltering Arizona

A man was arrested and charged with human smuggling after 17 illegal migrants were found piled up inside a motorhome and a neighboring sedan in the Swelter Arizona Heat Wednesday.

The majority of illegal migrants, which are all of Mexico, were found packaged inside the VR small which was parked on a property in Nogales while the temperatures inside climbed under the summer sun, according to Sean L. McGoffin, chief agent of the patrol of the Tucson de Border Patrol sector.

Those inside the VR, including a minor, had limited space and ventilation without access to running water, said McGoffin. The rest of the migrants were stuck in a small discovery sedan during a vehicle stop.

“This rescue probably prevented a tragedy,” said McGoffin. “With summer temperatures that are already climbing, packing people in trailers and appropriate ventilation or water vehicles is a disaster recipe. Human life should never be treated as a cargo.”

All migrants are now safe, detention and will be treated accordingly, said McCoffin. Square individuals are treated for an accelerated dismissal in accordance with the US immigration law.

The man who was decree is an American citizen and first tried to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended by agents shortly after.

Investigators work to determine if others were involved.

The operation was carried out by the border patrol of Nogales, the Nugales police and Internal security surveys.
