Renpho Morphoscan for $ 160:: The complete scanner of the Morphoscan Reno is surprisingly similar to the Runstar FG2015, including an almost identical screen attached to the handlebars. Well, spoiler alert, they are fundamentally on the same scale. They even use the same application to collect data (and you can even use the two scales simultaneously with it). The only reason why this scale is not our first choice for the category is that it is $ 25 more expensive. You can be assured that a price war is looming.
Xiaomi Mi Body Scale 2 for $ 80:: Although I am flattered that this scale awarded me a “bodily age” of 19 years younger than my chronological age, there may be something to be desired in its algorithmic rigor. This Bluetooth device only does not innovate exactly, offering a base of measurement collection for a considerably greater expenditure than the other entry -level options.

Hume Health Body Pod for $ 229:: Hume Health’s body pod, another full scanner with handles, is strongly announced – at least for applications on my phone – and presented (by Hume) as the next great thing in the world of body management. Although the application is indeed brilliant and welcoming, I was shocked to discover how fragile the equipment felt, that it lacked wi-fi, and that certain features are locked behind a Hume more than $ 100 subscription plan per year. It works quite well, but you can get results that are just as good with a cheaper device.
Garmin Index S2 for $ 150:: Four years after its release, the S2 index is still the current Garmin model, a surprise for a company differently obsessed with the physical form. It is always remarkable for its beautiful color display, which guides you through its six body measurements (for up to 16 users) each weighing. The display also provides your weight trend over time in graphic form and can even display the weather. The scale connects directly to the Wi-Fi storage system and Garmin based on cloud, so you don’t need a phone nearby to follow your progress as with Bluetooth scales only. A phone running the Garmin Connect application (Android,, iOS) is practical, you can therefore keep track of everything over time. Unfortunately, as health applications leave, Connect is a bit of a bear, so expect a learning curve, especially if you want to make changes to the way the scale works. You can turn on or deactivate its different LCD screen widgets in the application, but find everything can be difficult due to the intimidating scope of the Garmin ecosystem. The color screen is pleasant at first, but finally adds little to the packaging.
Omron BCM-500 for $ 86:: With its large LCD panel, its quartet of on-board buttons and its oversized silver electrodes, Omron BCM-500 is a catchy masterpiece of brutalist design. If your bathroom is decorated with concrete and wrought iron, this scale will adapt.Android,, iOS), but it provides its six bodily metrics directly on the scale, browsing them with each weighing (for up to four users). It can be difficult to read the label for each of the data points, in part because the LCD screen is not backlit, but the application is a little easier to follow, offering graphics of weight on the first page, skeletal muscle and body fat. On the other hand, the presentation is rather clinical and the application is surprisingly slow to synchronize. For a scale without Wi-Fi, it is quite expensive too.
