There are big titles that make the rounds claim that Techcrunch “withdraw from Europe” and closed its coverage of European startups. It is quite false. He distorts that we are, what we do and – especially – what we believe.
Recent changes at Techcrunch do not relate to retirement. They concern realignment and strengthening. This new chapter is fueled by our partnership with our Sister Society, Foundry, which was subject to the same property to create an entity of technological media with an unequaled world scope.
To be clear, the foundry is a power plant for international technological journalism. Its portfolio includes established and respected brands such as PCworld, Macworld, CIO and Techadvisor, with a large network of journalists and deep expertise in local and regional technological ecosystems across Europe and the world.
The suggestion that our new property considers that international coverage is not essential is manifestly false. The entire reception of Techcrunch and Foundry is to create a stronger media platform and more focused in the world.
Europe is the place where Fintech regulations are rewritten, where quantum startups move from the Max Planck laboratories, where climate technology drivers become the norm for the rest of the planet. In 2024 alone, the European founders raised more than 40 billion euros; Many unicorns we covered last year were born on this continent. If you care about the future of technology, you must be here. And we are.
While we integrate the forces of Techcrunch and Foundry, here is our promise to the founders, investors and readers in Europe and beyond:
To the startups community: keep your advice, your term sheets and your future anger attacks. Send them to tips@techcrunch.com or scathing our encrypted channels. We will listen – stronger and more broadly than ever.
Techcrunch does not withdraw from Europe. We double.
