With closing arguments scheduled for Friday morning, the jurors will soon start to deliberate Karen Read’s Fate after 31 days of testimony during his second trial for the death of the cop of Boston John O’Keefe, his former boyfriend.
Reading, 45, is accused of having cut the 46 -year -old man in front of a party at home and let him die on the ground during a blizzard on January 29, 2022. His defense denies that a collision has ever taken place, suggesting that he was attacked by someone at the party and a dog instead.
Judge Beverly Cannone rejected the second defense request on Thursday for the conclusion of non -guilty – paving the way at the start of the deliberations.
The following includes the basic evidence presented by both the accusation and the defense.
The prosecutors said that Karen Read and that John O’Keefe was drinking a lot before dropping him off at a party at the home of Brian Albert, another officer. They alleged that she had struck her with her SUV before leaving. Reading denied this assertion. (Gracieuse of Karen Read)

Karen Read Murder Trial reaches the final scene with closing arguments scheduled for Friday
Ancient White bulge The defense lawyer has become the special prosecutor Hank Brennan, mocked as a “crowd lawyer” of Read vocal supporters, came to resume the case after last year’s trial. Deputy prosecutors of the county of Norfolk, Adam Lally and Laura McLaughlin, returned from the first trial.
At the heart of Brennan’s case is that O’Keefe had plastic fragments that corresponded to Read’s rear fire integrated into his clothes.
Dr. Aizik Wolf, a renowned brain surgeon, said O’Keefe’s injury is consistent with a “classic” fall back on frozen soil. And a biomechanist named Dr. Judson Welcher testified that reading probably struck him with A look To the right arm and sent him to trip back before he made his head crack on the lawn at 34 Fairview Road in Canton, where it was found under a pile of snow a few hours later.

Final Defectiosity to Karen Read the trial pumps on the theory of the lexus collision
And in Read’s own alleged words, she said several times: “I hit her. I hit him. I hit him.”
The time of the Google research by Jennifer McCabe – “Hos Long to Die in Cold” – is another key factor, according to Paul Mauro, a retired inspector of the NYPD who follows the case.
“If at 6:23 am, it corroborates the testimony of Jen McCabe,” he told Fox News Digital. “If you believe Jen McCabe, you must almost condemn. You may be paying for the highest load, but you will certainly have to condemn the guilty manslaughter.”

Read’s legal team includes lawyers from major cities in three states – David Yannetti de Boston, New York Robert AlessiAnd Alan Jackson and Elizabeth Little from Los Angeles.
In his first trial, Yannetti and Jackson argued that reading had been “supervised” by local and state police. This time, they focused on the theory that read the SUV of Lexus LX 570 in 2021 never hit O’Keefe.
They also deployed a “Bowden defense” – trying to show that the police investigation was “inadequate”. The investigators collected evidence in red solo cups and provisions bags, used a leaf blower to move the snow, poorly labeled evidence and did not ask for a search warrant for the house at the address where they recovered the remains of O’Keefe.
The former soldier of the State of the Massachusetts Michael Proctor, a detective of homicide on the case, then lost his job to share confidential information and sensitive to the application of the law on a chain of text listed in R which also included obscene remarks on the defendant.

Defense experts testified that minor abrasions on O’Keefe’s right -hand man were not caused by contact with Read’s broken back light, but rather by dog or animal stings. Dr. Daniel Wolfe and Dr Andrew Rentschler Contested Welcher’s conclusions With the tests of their own, the use of an arm missed by crash which, according to them, could not reproduce the same damage to a rear light from Lexus.
The blow to the back of his head – which fractured his skull – did not come from contact on the frozen lawn, but rather by contact with a grainy and grainy surface, according to Dr. Elizabeth LaPosata, a medical -legal pathologist and clinical professor at Brown University.

LaPosata also challenged the results of the autopsy which indicated that O’Keefe had hypothermia – testifying that his internal injuries came from attempts at resuscitation and not from cold damage.
“The defense affair is science, science and more science,” said Mark Bederow, a New York lawyer representing Read Ally and the canton blogger Aidan Kearney. “No car accident, then no crime.”
