LA mayor extends curfew as anti-ICE protests escalate with over 20 arrested

The anti-ice demonstrations in Los Angeles continued even after the mayor of Karen Bass Friday, a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., while immigration and customs application operations continue in southern California.

Bass announced that it would extend the curfew Thursday at a press conference and said that it seemed to help reduce confrontations between the police and the demonstrators.

“We had to have a curfew in the city because we want to make sure that the downtown district and all other districts are safe,” she said. “But let me be very clear, we want peace to come in our city. The peace we have to arrive must start in Washington, and we have to stop the raids.”
