The man suspected of having shot two minnesota legislators, killing one of them, was placed in police custody, said a law enforcement manager.
Vance Boelter was arrested on Sunday evening. The arrest was confirmed to the Associated Press by a law manager who does not publicly discuss details of the current investigation and maintained anonymously.
The former democratic speaker, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark, were killed in their home in Brooklyn Park on Saturday early in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. Senator John Hoffman, also a democrat, and his wife, Yvette, were injured at their home in Champlin, about nine miles (15 kilometers).
Earlier Sunday, Drew Evans, a superintendent of the Criminal Apprehension Office, said a country campaign mandate at a press conference was absent for the arrest of the suspect.
Evans said that the authorities had found a car very early on Sunday that they thought Boelter used, a few kilometers from his home in Green Isle, in the agricultural country about an hour west of Minneapolis. He also said they had found evidence in the car that was relevant to the investigation, but had not provided details.
Sunday evening, American senator Amy Klobuchar shared a declaration by Yvette Hoffman expressing her appreciation for the effusion of public support.
“John hardens many surgical interventions at the moment and is closer to all hours of the wood release,” said Yvette Hoffman in a text that Klobuchar has published on social networks. “He took nine sure. I took eight and we are both incredibly lucky to be alive. We are emptied and devastated by the loss of Melissa and Mark. We have no words. There is never room for this kind of political hatred.”
The authorities appointed Boelter, 57, as a suspect, saying that he was carrying a mask while he pretended to be a police officer, even modifying a vehicle to make him look like a police car.
Evans confirmed that the investigators had found a cowboy hat near the vehicle and believe that it belonged to Boelter. The Superintendent also said that the authorities had interviewed Boelter’s wife and other family members in the fire on Saturday. He said they were cooperative and were not in detention.

Flowers in bright colors and small American flags were placed on Sunday on the gray marbled stone of Minnesota State Capitol with a photo of the Hortmans. People have scribbled messages on small notes, especially: “You were our chief through the most difficult times. Rest in power.”
Pam Stein came with flowers and on his knees by the memorial. An emotional stein called Hortman as “absolute power” and “the real little -known hero of the Minnesota government”.
No details on the pattern
The authorities have not yet given details on a reason.
A list of around 70 names was found in the recovered writings of the false police vehicle which was left to the crime, said the officials. The writings and the list of names included state and federal legislators and community leaders, as well as defenders of abortion and information on health establishments, according to officials.
Evans said that even if he described the material on Saturday as a “manifesto”, the newspapers were not a political or ideological treaty. He said it was more a notebook, listing the legislators and other people, with various mixed thoughts. He refused to give details.

Boelter is a former policy named politician who sat on the same council for the development of the state labor as Hoffman, according to the files, although it is not clear if or how they knew each other.
Around 6 am, local time on Saturday, Boelter sent a text to friends to apologize for his actions, although he did not say what he had done.
“I’m going to have gone for a while. Maybe being dead shortly, so I just want to let you know that I love you both and I want it not left this way. … I’m sorry for all the problems that it has caused,” he wrote in the messages visualized by AP.
Two targeted democrats
The police responded to the shots reports at the Hoffmans’ home shortly after 2 am on Saturday and found the couple with several ball injuries.
Local Brooklyn Park police helped the call and decided to proactively check Hortman’s home nearby, Brooklyn Park’s police chief Mark Bruley said on Saturday.
There, they met what seemed to be a police vehicle and a man disguised as an officer leaving the house. The police confronted him, he shot them and the police were burned. The suspect then retired to the house and fled on foot, said Bruley.
On social networks, Governor Tim Walz remembered Hortman on Sunday as “the most consecutive speaker in state history”.
Hortman, 55, was the best Democratic leader of the State House since 2017. She directed the Democrats in a three -week rating at the start of this year’s session in a power struggle with the Republicans. The couple had an adult son and an adult girl.
Hoffman, 60, was elected for the first time in 2012 and was chairman of the Senatorial Social Services Committee, which oversees one of the largest parts of the state budget. He and his wife have an adult daughter.
