Baseball pledge of the University of Arkansas Gage Wood launched just the third without strike World Series of College History and first in 65 years on Monday, withdrawing a record of 19 against Murray State to protect the 3-0 victory of his team.
Wood joined Jim Ehrler from Texas in 1950 and Jim Wixson de Oklahoma statement In 1960 as only launchers to throw CWS without strike.

The junior had only two three -ball charges because 83 of his 119 throws were strikes.
Wood had submitted a perfect match in the eighth round, but a 2-2 breaking ball struck Dom Decker in the rear foot.
“When I hit the guy at the foot, I knew I had messed up,” said Wood after the match.

However, Wood, a junior right -hander who set the CWS record for stick withdrawals in a nine -round match, celebrated his feat after the match.
“The only special thing was that I didn’t want to go home. That’s it,” he said. “We don’t go home. We can play tomorrow evening. But it’s pretty cool.”
Wood has become closer in the first year to an intermediate lift as second in the second year as a starter as a junior. He was injured in the right shoulder by launching a warm -up field when he left February 23 against Michigan and returned until April 18 against Texas A & MA total of 54 days.

When asked what he had done with the game ball, Wood said: “I gave it to my father and I said the good Fathers’ Day.”
The Arkansas (49-14) is playing another elimination match on Tuesday evening against the winner of the match on Monday evening between the LSU and the UCLA.
