Meta tests a way to hide the spoilers on the wires, according to A new message from Mark Zuckerberg. The functionality allows you to obscure the text or an image so that they are only visible once they are tapped or clicked.
In the current version tested, you must highlight your chosen text or press the image, then press “Mark Spoiler” to hide it. Inside the Threads application, there is even a swirling particle animation which covers the text and the images before collapsing when you press them.
Meta suggests that the functionality is added to facilitate the conversation of current emissions without accidentally spoiling anything. The platform has an increasing community of users who use threads to discuss the media and an algorithmic flow which facilitates the deposit of a spoiler in front of you. Few social media platforms outside Reddit offer a way to obscure spoilers. Instead, users often have to turn to more general moderation tools such as mutating words or sentences to avoid learning things before watching a new film or a new show.
Spoiler’s new feature does not yet seem to be widely available, but it is only the last of a series of changes with that Meta has experienced in the threads in recent months. The largest being the addition of a dedicated DM reception box. Hitherto Test a separate DM reception box in Hong Kong, Thailand and Argentina.
