San Francisco’s latest Startup culture drama occurred on Monday evening. And that focused on “the most legendary party that never took place,” the founder and CEO of Cluelley, Roy Lee, told Techcrunch.
Cluelley had hoped to launch an after-party for a combiner event there on Monday and Tuesday called AI start -up school. The event attracted crowds thanks to speakers planned like Sam Altman, Satya Nadella and Elon Musk.
Cluelley is an AI startup born controversial And Comedy marketing with rage baits. Faithful to the form, Lee published a satirical video on X announcing his after-party. This shows him camped by the famous sign of the combiner y – the one that all the founders of YC take selfies. (Cluelley is not a YC startup.)
The tweet announced the party to its more than 100,000 subscribers and said to DM for an invitation. Lee tells Techcrunch that he did not really send invitations to hordes. “We only invited friends from friends,” he said.
But it became THE Party, and people shared the details. When he had to start, So many people stood outside The place where the lines wrapped around the blocks. “It simply exploded the proportion,” says Lee. What looked like 2,000 people arose, he added.
A party that Big could have become uncontrollable, but that did not have the opportunity. The lines blocked traffic, so the cops arose and closed it. “The aura of Cluelly is simply too strong!” Lee was heard screaming outside while the cops broke out.
“It would have been the most legendary party in the history of technology. And I would say that the reputation of this story could well make it the most legendary party that has never happened,” Lee at Techcrunch, simultaneously proud and disappointed.
Lee became known in San Francisco when He published a viral tweet on X Saying that he was suspended by Columbia University after he and his co-founder developed an AI tool to deceive job interviews for software engineers.
They transformed this tool into a startup which offers a hidden browser window which cannot be viewed by an interviewer or a project. The startup has also become viral for her marketing who promised to help people “deceive everything”. In April, Cluelley collected a seed lap of $ 5.3 million, and her marketing is now a little less opposite: “Everything you need. Before asking. ”
The party and its disappearance of the police have naturally become the subject of jokes, memes and inventive rumors. Lee’s explanation on the crowd outside is perhaps duller than what some people imagined. After the cops have shown: “We have done cleaning, but the drinks are all there while waiting for the next party,” he promises.
