A federal judge ordered the former Lieutenant of the American Coast Guard Peter Stinson to hold at home with the surveillance of general practitioners during a hearing on the accusations that he made numerous threats against the president Donald Trump on social networks in the past five years.
The 63-year-old Virginia resident was an officer in the United States Coastal guard From 1988 to 2021, during which he became a sniper and served as an instructor of FEMA.
Judge Ivan Davis said on Wednesday that he did not think, under the conditions he exposed, that Stinson’s release to home detention was a threat to the community.
Stinson, who wore a green prison combination at the hearing, was seen speaking with his lawyers during the procedure.

Prosecutors of the United States Ministry alleged that Stinson had threatened multiple threats against Trump on various social media platforms, including X, Reddit and Bluesky.
Stinson’s public defender, however, stressed that Stinson said things like: “Someone should take it … He said I couldn’t shoot but I can drive. I would take it, but I’m a ugly blow, so it would be a waste.”
Prosecutors have at the argument saying that Stinson lied about his skills, noting that he had received ribbons from an expert elite during his service.

Stinson’s public defender also argued that the status in question is specific to the threatening language and that political hyperbole is a discourse protected by the first amendment.
Justice Davis seemed to agree with the public defender when prosecutors had trouble responding to the burden of establishing a probable cause. He finally gave prosecutors until next Wednesday to file additional memories on the issue.
In an affidavit deposited on Friday, an agent of the working group of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed details on the myriads of online threats that Stinson would have made.
In one case, Stinson would have written that Trump should be “[L]Uigied, “May 9. The post was a reference to Luigi Mangione, who is accused of having killed the CEO of United Healthcare Brian Thompson last year.

Stinson would have made graphic threats against Trump involving firearms, poisoning and even knives on several social media platforms.
Stinson would also have referred to “not having the necessary skills”, to successfully finish an assassination, but also strangely said that he was not entirely truthful.
The document also alleges that Stinson made Several references to 8647, What government representatives say “is probably in reference to an Instagram publication published by the former director of the FBI James Comey”.
According to the Affidavit, Stinson “has self-identified as a member of Antifa. “”
On February 2, Stinson would have posted on his X account, “of course. It is war. The sides will be drawn. Antifa still wins at the end. Violence is intrinsically necessary.”

The last article referenced in the document was published on Bluesky on June 11, when Stinson wrote: “When he dies, the party will be Yugen.”
