Known for its anti -Trump rhetoric – including its infamous declaration on CNN and foreign policy calling Trump “the shame of our civilization” – Rama has become a favorite among the European elites and the American Democrats. His political survival depended on alignment with anti-Trump order, even if his domestic leadership turns to authoritarianism.

Today, while Europe is struggling with a multipolar world and complex geopolitical challenges, it tolerates more and more – if not the adoptions – of chefs like Rama. For what? Because he professes allegiance to “European values”, despite the presidency of what criticism calls a narco-state built on organized crime and electoral manipulation.
Rama represents a European version of the Chávez-Maduro model: a left-wing autocrat has hidden in progressive language, exercising power with little respect for democratic standards. He embodies stabiliocracy distressing the Balkans – regime tolerated for regional calm, despite the erodation of the very values that Europe claims to support.
US Secretary of State Marco RubioThe recent effort to prevent Chevron from renewing his contract in Venezuela de Maduro is a daring example of leadership in principle – mentioning legitimacy and resources to authoritarian regimes. America must apply this same clarity to the Balkans.

Even many Albanians now call their chief like “Ramaduro” – a desperate signal in the United States to obtain aid for the restoration of democracy. The position of America should serve as alarm to a Europe that has comfortable coexisting with mafia -style diets rooted in corruption and repression. Europe cannot justify supporting autocrats simply because their detractors are curators or aligned with President Trump.

It is time for American diplomacy to take concrete measures. This means increased pressure on Albania leadership, public support for free and fair elections, and a clear message: alignment with Western values is measured by action, not empty declarations.
