The suspect accused of having fatally pulled a minnesota legislator and her husband in an outburst of firearms last week was an apocalyptic “prepper”, according to the FBI.
The accused’s wife Vance Boelter told investigators that the family was part of a small group of Americans who “prepare for major or catastrophic incidents,” said a justice document.
Boelter, 57, was accused of killing the Democratic president of the Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, last Saturday.
He also seriously injured the senator from the Democratic State John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Police affirms that there is evidence that he planned to target others.
Police captured Mr. Boelter in Woods last Sunday after a two -day man hunt.
His wife was arrested in a traffic stop a few hours after the shots. She took their four children to stay with friends, according to investigators.
Jenny Boelter told authorities that her husband had warned her in a message she should flee, show documents.
“The text said something to the effect they should prepare for the war, they had to get out of the house and people with firearms can come home,” the FBI agent wrote on Friday in a affidavit published on Friday.
In his car, investigators found about $ 10,000 in cash, passports and two firearms. Ms. Boelter has not been accused of any crime.
She said that her husband had given her a “rescue plan”, for what to do if she needed to leave the house.
Boelter also said that her husband had a trading partner in the northwest state of the United States of Washington and that they were heading a security business and a “fishing outfit” called “Red Lion” in Congo, Africa.
Minnesota governor Tim Walz, Democrat, called the “act of targeted political violence” shots.
According to Minnesota Tribune star, Mr. Boetler wrote a disjointed and inconsistent letter addressed to the FBI in which he said that the Governor of the State had ordered him to kill the Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar in the context of a supposed plot for Walz to take his place in the Senate.
There is no proof of such a plot.
According to local media, Klobuchar and the American Minnesota senator, Tina Smith, as well as Walz, were among the democratic politicians on a list of around 70 targets found in possession of Mr. Boetler.
The suspect disguised himself as a police officer to access the houses of the two American legislators he pulled, police said. He was wearing a vest with a taser and a badge.
Yvette Hoffman, who survived the attack, was released from the hospital on Thursday, while her husband remains in care.
Ms. Hoffman was killed as she protected her daughter, Hope, shots. It was hope that called 911.
