“As a kid I noticed a difference. When I was with my mother who was black, she was treated to suspect. No application of our dream home. Questions in the first grade. But with my white dad, people were hospitable. Then I realized how much the color of your skin is how the world treats you.”

“It made me want to be my loud pride,” he added. “Be black and proud. To celebrate where I come from. And use my voice and platform to make sure my community is seen, heard and celebrates.”
