Israel recovers the remains of 3 hostages from Gaza


The remains of three other hostages held in the Gaza Strip have been recovered, the Israeli army announced on Sunday, while strikes continued on Palestinian territory.

The soldiers identified the remains like those of Yonatan Samerano, 21, of Ofra Keidar, 70, and Shay Levinson, 19. All three were killed during October 7, 2023 of Hamas, a terrorist attack in Israel which sparked the in progress. The militant group supported by Iran still holds 50 hostages, however, less than 25 would be alive.

The soldiers have provided no details on the recovery operation.

“The campaign to return the hostages continues regularly and performs in parallel with the campaign against Iran,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement. “We will not rest before bringing all our kidnapping back to home – both the living and the dead.”

Kobi Samerano said in an article on Facebook that her son’s remains had been returned to what would have been Yonatan’s 23rd anniversary.

“Jonati, we had the privilege of living in your side 21 and a half years of light, and today, in a new light,” wrote his father on Facebook. “You returned to us, beloved son, wrapped in the light of heroism, of faith, of an entire nation.”

The terrorists led by Hamas killed some 1,200 people, mainly civilians and removed 251 people in the October 7 attack. More than half of the hostages have been returned to ceasefire agreements or other agreements, eight have been saved alive and the Israeli forces have recovered dozens of bodies.

Netanyahu rejected these conditions, claiming that Israel will continue the war until all the hostages have returned and that Hamas is defeated or disarmed and sent into exile.
