British man charged with organising Disneyland Paris “mock wedding” of nine-year-old

A British man was charged in the organization of the “simulated marriage” of a nine -year -old Ukrainian girl in Disneyland Paris.

French prosecutors said that the 39-year-old man was a condemned sex offender who is wanted in the United Kingdom. His name was not made public.

He was arrested when the police were called in the amusement park on Saturday morning in Dawn by a “guest” who said he was hired by the man to play the bride’s father.

The man said that he had been paid € 12,000 to play the role and that he only realized at the last minute that the “bride” was a child, according to a press release from Meaux prosecutor, Jean-Baptiste Blader.

A woman who says that she was hired to play the role of a guest told BFMTV that when she arrived at Disneyland Paris, she saw a “little girl dressed in white with her hair all and I saw a woman who had picked her up in her arms … and I was shocked, I melted in tears”.

A hundred French extras had been recruited to participate in the false ceremony, which was to be filmed privately.

The British man would have hired Disneyland Paris for several hours for the time being, in which he had to play the role of the groom.

Three other people – including the mother of the 41 -year -old daughter, a 24 -year -old Latvian woman who was to play the bride’s sister and a 55 -year -old Latvian man – were also arrested.

On Tuesday, only the British man was still detained by the police.

The British man and Lattone appeared before a judge in Meaux on June 23 and the man was accused of fraud, violation of confidence, money laundering and identity theft and placed in pre -trial detention.

Latvian remains a witness in the investigation.

The prosecutor’s statement also said that Disneyland Paris had been “deceived” and that the organizer had used a false Latvian card to hire the place. Disneyland Paris can be rented by public members outside the opening hours.

BFMTV indicated that the “Mock Wedding” could have a cost organizer of more than € 130,000 (£ 110,000).

The declaration of Mr. Bladier said that the British man “was condemned in the past, including for sexual offenses against minors.

“He is, as such, listed in the British sex offender database and is currently sought nationally by the judicial authorities of his country of origin due to a violation of the requirements deriving from the said order.”
