So many GUNDAM GU‘s Riffing on heritage from the original of 1979 through his 12 episodes was almost a feeling of inevitability of desire that he could only finish in a way—A rebate of what came before narratively, and a continuation of the conflict cycle which largely defined the franchise as a whole and the universal framework of the century which Guuuuurous played with in particular. But in his last episode, Guuuuurous played with its nostalgic sensitivities one last time to imagine a future that has broken the cycle of Gundamand the rise of his past.
Many things happen in “it’s why that”, the 12th and apparently last episode of GUNDAM GU On his path of imagination of this future – at some point in the end with this question on the inevitability of remixing and the obsession of the program for the events of the original Gundam mobile costume. The final battle between Machu, Nyaan and Shuji (and Challia and Char, the adult spectators of the conflict of a generation beyond them, dealing with scars of their own conflicts) becomes largely motivated by a revelation made early by Shuji.
The Sune lalah inside the Sharon Rose comes from a reality where Char died in the hands of Amuro Ray in the One -year warsacrificing himself to save her, and he pursues her through endless realities at that time since, when she desperately tries to find one where Char survives. But she never does it, recreating her despair which fell to reality in the first place and distort these realities beyond existence. In order to prevent Lalah from enduring this pain still and still – threatening to bear it once again, Char should reject what she did – Shuji decides his time to euthanize essentially, putting an end to this last reality before it could destroy it and its original in the benefits.
It may be revealing at this stage that this lalah, very clearly distinct from the Lalah of the original Gundamcould not create (or even contemplate) a possibility that leads to the events of the original Gundam mobile costumeWhere it is Amuro and Char who survive, and she does not. Even the lalah of GuuuuurousThe reality, where Char survived but did not meet her during the war, had only visions of chronologies where Char meets her end which saves her. The Lalah rose, the Guuuuurous Lalah, there is no dream of a happy future for them: it is either the pain of loss, or the pain of never knowing this man that she still knows in a way thanks to her newtype connection.
It corresponds to the trajectory of the framework of the universal century as we know it: where the evolution of the deeper connection between humanity represented by the awakening of Newtypes is constantly interrupted by the tragedy of repeating the wars between the earth and its colonies. A future where this deep understanding is always marred by a feeling of loss, the tragedy which could have been, while this cycle of conflict continues. The very act of Gundam Be saved from premature cancellation and its turning point in one of the most lasting franchises of the anime which almost denies this hope for peace: the end of hope of war in the original Gundam yield to Zeta GundamThe framework of the place where the land has transformed an additional totalitarian into its oppression of the colonies, triggering a resurgence of Zeon which culminates CHART-attack of Char. The cycle does not stop there, with new wars and new factions emerging through stories like Unicorn,, Hathaway,, F91And Victoryand even finally implicitly still in adjacent alternative universes such as Reconnonguista in G And Turn a gun.
Guuuuurous Almost this literal by making Shuji pilot the image of the original Gundam – not remixed, but disputed on the way in which he appeared in the original anime – to commit his attempted euthanasia. While Machu and Nyaan are fighting to stop it, the Gundam blurs reality, transforming and transforming itself into a more literal version of its nickname “white devil”, an almost literal spectrum haunting the people with this so-called aberrant reality. But in the end, Machu challenges Shuji, not by killing it (although she manages to cut the head of Gundam cathartically as a finish, a very powerful image given the ideas at stake here), but by begging him to free himself from this cycle of death and to contemplate a reality where Lalah is authorized to free himself from his own terms. The evolution of Newtypes, as Machu understands, is to find the force in the deeper connection that it brings, in the exploration of new potentials and possibilities – that it was made a stronger person in its own evolution as a newtype to meet Nyaan and him. In her mind, Lalah does not find the same force unless it is allowed to confront the loss of its own deeper connection with its tank and to move to it, knowing that there is a world where the possibility of them living both, although separated, exists.
By making him realize that Lalah must have the chance to do this achievement herself, rather than being protected, Machu does not only win the day, but Galvanize Guuuuurous To provide a hopeful future for its alternative spin to the universal century. Char and Challia separate, the first promising the second to make a better life that would make the second proud, after Challia expresses the fears that the loneliness of Char can lead it on a self -destruction path – as he ultimately does in the original framework by CHART-attack of Char. This road even begins with this version of Char by finally meeting “his” version of Lalah, giving them both a potential path to a happy ending together. Zeon, free from the fascist rule of the Zabi family, sets up its own version of Char Artesia’s sister as a new sovereign, imagining a future where the ideals of his family for the independence of the spacenoids could live beyond the usurpation of the Zabi dynasty. The series closes on Nyaan and Machu relaxing on earth –Bounce after their separation In the culminating episodes of the season – clever that it is not the last time that they will see Shuji, and with Machu reconnect with his distant parents.
GuuuuurousThe ultimate end – only even makes a separate end, since it leaves the door open to a more in -depth exploration of this vision of the series in a way that few people could have expected – is not that the cycle of Gundam He himself must continue, but a possibility for the series to imagine new potentials, new visions of his most sacred aspects. A possibility where it has won peace is not temporary, but supported – and that Gundam can still be Gundam If he imagines contexts and future beyond this cyclic conflict. It is a sharp outcome for a spectacle which has largely defined by an obsessive remix of GundamI went to offer the idea that he does not have to see it forever.
