Trump's rejection of US intel on Iran strikes reflects long history of discrediting spy agencies

After a first assessment of American intelligence found that Iran’s nuclear program had been implemented only by a few months by American strikes this weekend, President Donald Trump insisted that the country’s nuclear program had been “erased”. Although the CIA has now declared that Iranian nuclear installations were “seriously damaged”, Trump’s suspicion in terms of intelligence agencies is not new.
