Six dead, thousands displaced as floods hit southwestern China | Climate News

The “exceptionally important floods” swept the county of Guizhou, the county of Guizhou, forcing some 80,000 people to flee their houses.

The images published by Xinhua have also shown rescue operations carried out by emergency services. Tents have been installed to serve as temporary shelters for those who have been moved.

In other parts of Guizhou, where the floods were calmed, people were also seen cleaning the debris and thick mud layers which covered the lower sections of certain commercial establishments and other buildings.

Meanwhile, tropical depression hit the landing in Hainan early Thursday, according to the National Meteorological Center in the country.

The tropical depression should move from the city of Wenchang through the northeast tip of the island, before returning to the Southern China Sea and making a second land in the Chinese province of Guangdong and to gradually weaken.

The storm will again test the defenses of the floods of the densely populated province of Guangdong, as well as Guangxi and Hunan more inside the land.

China hardens an extreme summer.

This week, the authorities have issued the second highest heat warning for the capital, Beijing, one of its warmest days of the year so far.

Tens of thousands of people were evacuated last week in the province of Hunan – Voisin Guizhou – due to heavy rains caused by Typhon Wutip.
