Everyone likes limited edition stuff. There is Sony PS5’s 30th anniversary, or the many analogs Limited edition pocket sleeves, Or – I don’t know – the Shamrock F *** Ing Shake. But there is a type of person who likes things in limited edition more than your average consumer, and it is a scalper. For the proof of this, see The recently published Xbox brand quest for Meta.

In case you have missed it, The new package of 3S limited edition quests from Meta has just been selling recentlyWho on the surface seems to be a good thing for VR and XR. You may be tempted to say: “Oh, wow! People really like XR, huh?” But before doing it, it can also be worth taking a brief look at eBay, because the resale market there painted a slightly more cynical image. It is complete Xbox brand quest packages, people – and they don’t only give them. This bundle, for reference, sells for $ 399, and the average price I see on Ebay is about $ 600, although sometimes a little or a little less.

The list continues again and again, unfortunately, which tells me one thing: the Scalpers had a day on the ground with this thing. And it’s just a little sad. It is not sad that someone wants to make money by returning a limited edition gadget – as the scalpers are boring, I cannot blame anyone to have a stampede in this economy. But East Sad that Meta apparently did not do much to preserve her 3S limited edition quest for the XR Nerds which unequivocally deserve the first dibs. It is perhaps also a little sad – like someone who borders the said identity of Nerd XR – that the race to be out of stock may not be really motivated by a real request. The XR helmets, although not the most crucial gadget in the world, are quite cool and deserve more radiance than they get in my humble opinion. It would have been nice to see them really pierce with a little help from an Xbox marketing gadget. But as always, the all-powerful secondary market prevails.
To be fair, I am sure that all sales were not scalpers trying to make the rarity of the XR helmet. Some people, I presume, bought it because it is a fairly good deal to enter XR – you get an elegant black helmet with Xbox green details, Meta’s elite strap for your head and a limited edition Xbox controller to top it off. Based on the retail price of all this, this package allows you to save somewhere in the $ 95 stadium. Some people also bought this package because of Xbox. Here is an instance in which someone seems to have pressed the trigger of this bundle just for the controller. Honestly … respect. It’s much purer than trying to run everything for $ 200.

Listen, scalpers are an inevitable fact of life these days when you buy a gadget that is even slightly in demand. Like it or not, it’s just the world in which we live – a colorful by bots and dropshipping. But I would lie if I said that it would not have been pleasant to see a little effort from Meta to prevent this. It can be done! Just Look at the launch of switch 2. People use Caricatured flight levels To get their hands on it – this is how much this thing is on request – but Nintendo, with a little pension. I guess Meta probably doesn’t care as much, however. A sale is a sale, which it ends on eBay or on your XR and Xbox cutting head. Unfortunately, if you are in this last camp, it seems that the secondary market is your only option at the moment. Thank you, Zuckerberg. Just because you look like a dropshipper that you have to act as such.
