Israel orders evacuations in northern Gaza as Trump pushes for ceasefire

Israel ordered the Palestinians to evacuate from certain parts of northern Gaza before increased military action, while US President Donald Trump requests a cease-fire contract.

Residents of the Gaza City and Jabalia districts were invited to move south to the Al-Mawasi coastal area while Israeli military operations “will intensify and develop to the west”.

At least 86 people were killed as a result of Israeli attacks within 24 hours before noon, on Sunday, the Ministry of Health managed by Hamas said.

Three children were one of the people killed during a strike on the so-called “safe zone” in Al-Mawasi, said their parents.

Trump reiterated calls to “conclude the agreement in Gaza” and “recover the hostages”.

Trump had declared on Truth Social on Saturday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was negotiating an agreement with Hamas “at the moment”.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Forces spokesman (FDI), Avichay Adraee, said on Sunday that the Israeli army operated in northern Gaza “to eliminate terrorists and terrorist infrastructure”.

Doctors and residents told Reuters that military bombing had increased in Gaza in the early hours of Sunday, destroying several houses.

The Civil Defense Agency led by Gaza told media that at least 23 people were killed on Sunday only.

Doctors said five people had been killed in an Israeli air strike on a tent lodging people in Al -Mawasi near the southern city of Khan Younis – an area where northern people had been invited to evacuate.

Five members of the Maarouf family, including three children, were killed.

“They bombed us while we slept on the floor,” said their mother Iman Abu Maarouf. “We did not hurt anything. My children were killed and the others are in intensive care.”

Their father Zeyad Abu Maarouf told Reuters that the family had arrived in the “security zone” a month ago after Israel told them to go to Al-Mawasi.

Asked about the incident, the FDI told the BBC that it could not provide a specific response without further information, but said that it “followed international law and takes possible precautions to mitigate civil damage”.

Also Sunday, a 20 -year -old TDI soldier, Sergeant Yisrael Natan Rosenfeld, was killed in the north of Gaza.

The increase in Israeli military action comes as mediators start new efforts to end the war and release the remaining hostages held by Hamas.

On Thursday, a senior Hamas official said that the BBC mediators had intensified their efforts to negotiate a new Liberation contract for ceasefire and hostage in Gaza, but that negotiations with Israel remain blocked.

Qatari mediators said they hoped that American pressure could help conclude an agreement, following a truce between Israel and Iran which ended the 12 -day conflict between countries.

Netanyahu told members of the domestic intelligence agency of Israel on Sunday, Shin Bet that the “victory” over Iran had opened many possibilities “, first and foremost, to save the hostages”.

“Of course, we will also have to solve the Gaza problem, to defeat Hamas, but I think we will carry out the two missions. Beyond that, great regional opportunities are open in most-almost all-you are partners,” he said.

Trump previously said that he hoped that a ceasefire in Gaza could be agreed next week.

In March, a two-month ceasefire collapsed when Israel launched new strikes in Gaza. He said he wanted to put pressure on Hamas to release his hostages.

Israel also imposed a total blockage of humanitarian aid deliveries in Gaza in early March, which partially relaxed after 11 weeks after the pressure of the American allies and the warnings of global experts that half a million people faced the famine.

This partial relaxation included the creation of a group of aid in the United States and the Israeli, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), after Israel accused Hamas of stealing aid. Hamas denied it.

The GHF aid system was sentenced by United Nations agencies. There have been repeated incidents of murders and injuries of Palestinians looking for help.

Juliette Touma, director of communications of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, told BBC that the new mechanism was “a field of kill”. She said that the distribution of aid in an orderly manner could only be carried out by the UN and other humanitarian organizations.

GHF BOSS Johnnie Moore Previously, the BBC World Service Newshour He did not deny deaths near the aid sites, but said that “100% of these victims are allocated to the proximity of the GHF” and it was “not true”.

The previous ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas – which started on January 19 – was set up to have three stages, but did not succeed in the first step.

The second step included the establishment of a permanent ceasefire, the return of the remaining living hostages in Gaza in exchange for Palestinians imprisoned in Israel and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli Gaza forces.

Trump called on to abandon the ongoing accusations of corruption against Netanyahu, describing procedure as a “political witch hunt” delaying cease-fire negotiations.

On Sunday, an Israeli court accepted a request from the Israeli Prime Minister to delay his planned testimony for a week, due to diplomatic and security issues.

Netanyahu was charged in 2019 in corruption, fraud and violation of trust, which he denies.

Earlier in the week, Israeli opposition chief Yair Lapid said Trump said Trump should not “intervene in a legal process of an independent state “.

Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza in response to the October 7, 2023 attack in Hamas, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

Since then, 56,500 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health of Hamas in the territory.
