“Karate Kid: Legends” really wants to tell his audience that this is about two branches of the same tree. In the universe, this refers to Kung-Fui, which Jackie Chan’s Lord Han teaches and carat that Pat Moritan Mr Miyagi used to practice. In reality, however, this may apply too “Karate Kid: Legends” is a story of two films with each other. The first movie is the rebuilding of the “Karate Kid” formula and Trop, and the nominal child becomes a teacher instead of being a student.
It helps that Ben Wang is a really good lead. He describes his character Li Fong as a relatively and charismatic sub -dog in a painful past you can’t help. And yet, he is not completely unmatched because the protagonist of the “Karate Kid” heading already has some martial arts information at the beginning of the story. This makes Li’s unique character in the franchise program. It gives him more confidence, allowing him to form a fascinating mentor and demonstration with Victor (Joshua Jackson), the owner of the local pizza community. As a sequel to the 2010 “Karate Kid” movie, the film will make a fun sequel to Mr Han’s story, which is the funniest part of the film thanks to his eccentric shifu and battle -specific Badass exhibitions (as Jackie Chan could do).
The big problem is the second film of “Legends”, which combines both branches of “Karate Kid” and brings the world’s original 1984 film 2010 to the world of the 1984 film by introducing Ralphion Macchion’s Daniel Larusso mix. The meeting of Mr Han and Daniel was by far the biggest outlet in film marketing, but it is also what hurts the movie the most (It and Jaden Smithin Dre Parker’s serious shortage).
The problem with Daniel’s performance “Karate Kid: Legends” is that it feels useless. “Karate Kids” fans have spent the last six years watching the character to cross personal questions, eventually competing with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and helping to win Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) in the series “Cobra Kai”. By comparison, his role in “legends” is essentially a bit more than a clarified Karete.
Also, if you completely removed Daniel, “Karate Kid: Legends” would be a much tighter story and a better movie.
The reason is simple. We only see Daniel for two -thirds of the movie, when he only joins as a teacher in leading the Big Karate tournament at the end of the movie. Even then, Daniel has no connection with Li or in conveying wisdom. (That task belongs to Mr. Han.) Indeed, In every turn “Karate Kid: Legends”, Daniel is outesmone His Kung-Fu equivalent when it comes to scenes, charisma and character depth. The film does not try to explore Daniel’s life outside him, helping to teach Li karat, less what happens with him in person at the moment. Mr Han, on the other hand, has a meaningful connection to Li because he is both his great and shifu. He immediately acknowledges that the movie’s martial arts tournament is not only an economic opportunity to help Li’s friends, but it is also something that Li Li has to do in order to overcome his guilt and sorrow to overcome his brother’s tragic death.
If you have watched the “Cobra Kai” event, Daniel’s reluctance to train Li and joy he is allowed to spread Miyag’s teachings that are unnecessary and hollow because he has already gone through all this Netflix exhibition of all six years (joy (joyWhat “karate kid: legends” hardly even admits). But even though you haven’t seen that series of pearls, Daniel really can’t do anything remarkable in this movie.
So, Daniel has no previous connection with Li, and “Karate Kid: Legends” does a little effort between it between the Sensei student bond, which makes both Daniel and Mr Han in one of the same film redundance. Other than some fun moments with two best techniques (whose “Karate Kid” fans have already seen a lot already at the “Cobra Kai” event), the film simply gets nothing to give to two teachers.
The first “Kara Kid: Legends” law, where we see Li to teach former boxer some kung-fu movements and to become a teacher instead of being a student is interesting and inventive. Even when we have to deal with one more karate tournament, Li’s backstory with his brother makes his journey to be forced (not to mention, it is only fun to watch the eccentric kung-fu of the Lord Hania). But we really had to tie both halves of the “Karate Kid” together? Definitely not. Other than Just too brief cameo at the end of the movie (Undoubtedly the funniest scene of the whole movie), “Cobra Kai”, or even acknowledged how the “karate kid” franchise has grown since 1984.
If the only connective tissue is that Daniel made a short week to New York randomly without affecting anything else, why should both halves “karate kid”? Macchio is a good actor and proven throughout the “Cobra Kai” event that Daniel Larusso can have more than his past as a former sub -dog. Unfortunately, we don’t see anything “karate kid: legends”.
“Karate Kid: Legends” is now playing in theaters.
