Renewed attacks by Russia kill at least 6 in Ukraine, officials say

Russia struck Ukraine with a thunderous air bombardment overnight, which attracted other hopes that the sides at war could conclude a peace agreement as soon as possible, a few days after kyiv embarrassed the Kremlin with a surprising drone attack against the military aerodromes deep in Russia.

The dam was one of the fiercest in the three -year war, lasting several hours, hitting six Ukrainian territories and killing at least six people and injuring around 80 others, Ukrainian officials announced on Friday. Among the dead were three emergency speakers in kyiv, one in Lutsk and two people in Chernihiv.

The attack occurred after US President Donald Trump said his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin told him that Moscow would respond to Ukraine’s attack on Russian military aerodromes on Sunday. It was also hours after Trump said that it would be better to leave Ukraine and Russia “fight for a while” before separating them and continuing peace. Trump’s comments were a remarkable detour of his often stated calls to arrest war and reported that he could abandon recent peace efforts.

Ukrainian cities have undergone regular bombing since Russia invaded its neighbor in February 2022. The attacks killed more than 12,000 civilians, according to the United Nations.

“Russia does not change its scratches,” said Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The war continued tirelessly, even because a diplomatic push led by the United States for a regulation brought two cycles of direct peace talks between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine. However, negotiations have not allowed significant breakthroughs and the parties remain far from their conditions for the end of the fighting.

Twice a year, a volunteer team of medical staff went to western Ukraine to treat soldiers and civilians suffering from serious facial wounds in the war. Raphaël Bouvier-Auclair of Radio-Canada visited the Canadian Organization clinic to see the transformations that change life.

Ukraine offered an unconditional 30-day ceasefire and a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin to break the dead end. But the Kremlin actually rejected a truce and did not move its requests.

“The Kremlin continues efforts to falsely portray Russia as willing to initiate negotiations in good faith to end the war in Ukraine, despite the repeated refusal of Russia to offer concessions,” said the Washington -based tank based on Thursday.

Other peace talks between Russia and Ukraine are expected in the coming weeks, just like another exchange of prisoners of war.

The latest Russia dam included 407 drones and 44 ballistic and cruise missiles, said Ukrainian spokesperson for the Air Force Yurii Ihnat. Ukrainian forces said they had killed about 30 of cruise missiles and up to 200 drones.

Kyiv emergency workers were killed while responding to strikes. “They worked under fire to help people,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it was targeting Ukrainian military targets with “long -range precision weapons” and has managed to hit weapons deposits, drone factories and repair facilities, among other targets.

But by mounting a scheme for Russian attacks throughout the war, Friday’s bombing also struck the buildings of apartments and other non -military targets, according to the Associated Press.

“Shocked” to be alive

In kyiv, explosions were heard for hours while the fall in debris sparked fires in several districts, Tymur Tkachenko said, city manager. He urged people looking for shelter.

Vitalina Vitalina Vasylchenko, fourteen, sheltered in a parking lot with her six -year -old sister and their mother after an explosion exploded one of their windows with her hinges.

“I heard a buzzing sound, then my father ran towards me and covered me with his hand, then there was a very strong explosion,” she said. “My whole life broke out before my eyes, I already thought that that was it. I started to have a panic attack. … I am shocked that I am alive.”

In the district of Salomyanskyi of Kyiv, a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a building of 16 floors. Emergency services have evacuated three people from the structure. The attack caused a power outage in certain regions, and more than 2,000 households on the eastern bank of the Kyiv Dnipro river were electricity, said city officials.

Elsewhere, 10 people were injured by an air attack against the city of Ternopil in western Ukraine, said regional governor Vicheslav Nehoda. The strike damaged industrial and infrastructure facilities, left the parts of the city without electricity and disrupted the supply of water.

Russia has also targeted the Western regions of LVIV and Khmelnytsky, the northern region of Chernihiv and the central region of Poltava, where at least three people were injured.
