The next Apple Mac operating system is called MacOS Tahoe, for Lake Tahoe, according to Bloomberg Mark Gurman.
The new macOS, set to be revealed at the World Developer Conference On June 9, the Apple agreement since 2013 would be used to name the version of the operating system after natural spots in Californian nature such as Large on And Sequoia.
A representative for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
The version number will also change, going from what would have been MacOS 16 to MacOS 26. Apple modifies the versions of the operating system on its platforms to align with the year of their release, so we will have MacOS 26, iOS 26TVOS 26 and so on for software introduced in 2025, but having the greatest range in 2026.
According to Gurman, the new operating system will be a major overhaul of the Mac operating system, and the new name could refer to a visual refreshment. “Lake Blue Deep is … known to show the reflection of the sky and the surrounding mountains-something that clicks on the striking visuals of the new user interface,” he wrote.
