Sly Stone, a funk-rock star who directed the Sly group and the Family Stone, died at the age of 82, his family declaration.

A press release said he had undergone an “prolonged battle” with the mpoc of pulmonary disease.

Stone, whose real name was Sylvester Stewart, grew up singing a gospel with his brothers and sisters, and played Woodstock Music Festival in 1969.

It is a family affair. Several Sly’s brothers and sisters were in the group. Her sister Rosie (photo at the bottom left) and her brother Freddie (hidden behind Sly’s hair) were key members. Stone married the model and actress Kathy Silva (right) on June 5, 1974. Their wedding was far from intimate: tens of thousands of fans wrapped Madison Square Garden Stadium in Manhattan to watch the couple equalize the node live on stage. Later, they held their reception in the Waldorf-Astoria, where this blow was fired.

Stone sometimes played alone during periods of internal conflict for the group in the 1970s. After drug problems, the group then moved away.

In 2006, the artist reached the Grammys scene in Los Angeles. He remembers his family as “a monumental figure, a revolutionary innovator and a real pioneer who redefined the landscape of pop, funk and rock music”.
