Comedy Central “South Park” is known for its adult humor and inopologetic respect. It’s not a series that no one ever expected to see for the children. In Kuwait, that’s exactly what happened. The Kuwaiti RIP-off of “South Park” was not only developed for the young audience, but the series was so successful that it continued the Spin-Off spawning-something that has never been achieved by the true “South Park”.
“South Park”, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stonerose from a humble beginning. Parker and Stone created the “South Park” world in two 1990s animations in the short film, which were made with a simple cardboard surgery animation. When one of these shorts went viral-to-one of the first online videos, which made the so-comedy Central took the series and arrived on television in 1997.
“Block 13” was created by Nawaf Salem al-Shammar and made his debut on Kuwait on television in 2000. The series was developed When “South Park” was forbiddenPerhaps surprising, Kuwait’s attacking jokes from Islam. “Block 13” copies many “South Park” character design almost exactly, even though the characters’ clothes were changed to better reflect Kuwait. Instead of mimicizing “South Park” adult humor, “Block 13” was targeted at families and children of all ages. The series ran only 3 seasons, but it was popular enough to still be on a re -bench television every ramada.
Although “Block 13” ran only 3 seasons, the series was a huge success in Kuwait. It was also a major series for the country because it was the first animated series ever produced in the Gulf Arab state. Just like “South Park”, the series dealt with current real-world issues that affect the audience through comedy, albeit a lot in Tamer. And even though “Block 13” was aimed at a younger audience, its humor did not completely lose its edge. Abboud, a series of Eric Cartman Series, still had jokes about his weight, while Saloom, series version Kenny McCormick was still killed regularly ridiculous accidents.
After “Block 13”, the series gave birth to a spin-off “Qatouta and Kaloob” in 2003. The series also had a handful of Cameo performances of “Block 13” characters. Although the second season was planned and due to the air of the Arbai TV, the budget restrictions led to its cancellation.
Despite the “Qatouta and Kaloob” that have not launched season 2, “block 13” success has continued. The series received a reboot, “13th Street”, in 2022. The series is still ongoing on the VO, Dubai TV and Dubai streaming platform, AWA.
