Aakash Chopra reveals LSG’s biggest strength, issues warning to MI, CSK & others

Lucknow Super Giants have selected a different team for IPL 2025 from their past two seasons. The team is highly reliant on its strong middle order which left the former India opener Aakash Chopra in awe of the team.

LSG have a middle order consisting of the captain Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller. Aakash Chopra feels that it looks very strong and can make a big impact in the upcoming season.

Chopra praised the varied batting options of LSG and also claimed that they have a promising fast bowling line-up. However, he admitted that the pace bowling department lacks experience.

Aakash Chopra hails LSG’s middle order

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra lauded the strong LSG middle order consisting of Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller. He also hailed the spin-playing ability of all these batters and claimed that it would force the opposition to change their plans.

“The middle order is absolutely explosive. It is incredible. They have three left-handers. When you pick three left-handers, the opposing team says they would play an off-spinner. Firstly, very few teams have off-spinners. One is Ravichandran Ashwin, another is Washington Sundar, and after that, which quality off-spinner are you going to see in whichever place?” asked Chopra.

“Secondly, all three left-handers, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant and David Miller, play spin well. You rarely get overseas batters who play spin very well. Nicholas Pooran is right up there with the best in the world. That’s why he was retained. David Miller, again, is a player who plays spin very well,” he noted.

“They might come one after the other” – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra predicted that these three batters would come after one another resultingin the opposition captain scratching his head. The former India batter also recalled Miller’s fantastic century in the Champions Trophy semi-final against New Zealand recently.

“He just scored a century in a losing cause in the Champions Trophy. So they have left-handers and all three will come in the middle. They might come one after the other, unless Rishabh thinks he should go at No. 3, and Nicholas and Miller can be kept at No. 5 and No. 6. I see a slightly flexible batting order,” he added.

All the three batters Pant, Pooran, and Miller form an explosive batting line-up which will be hard for any bowling line-up to stop. All of them are quality T20 batters and will make life difficult for the opposition.

LSG’s promising fast bowlers

While speaking on LSG’s bowling line-up, Aakash Chopra was impressed with the team’s Indian core but is worried about their inexperience. However, he believes that they have the potential to turn the season their way.

“A young fast-bowling attack which is extremely promising. It includes Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Akash Deep, Akash Singh and Avesh Khan. The Indian fast-bowling core is promising. However, it is slightly inexperienced as well,” he said.

Among these pacers, LSG retained Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan ahead of the auction. While it looks good but the fitness of Mayank is still a big concern for them. There are still question marks over the injury-prone pacer being available for the whole tournament.

The Super Giants will begin their tournament on March 24 against Delhi Capitals at Visakhapatnam. The team will be led by Rishabh Pant, who was signed for a record amount of INR 27 crore.
