Suga, a rapper and songwriter of the Global K-Pop Sensation BTS, was sent back from the compulsory military service of South Korea, marking the official return of the seven members of their enrollment functions.
The label confirmed that Suga had completed its alternative service tasks on Wednesday after using its remaining leave. Its official release date is on Saturday.
The BTS management agency, Big Hit Entertainment, said earlier that no event was planned for the release of Suga, for the sake of overcrowding.
This is an important opportunity for fans of the K-POP group, which has skyrocketed to international success in 2018 when it became the first South Korean group to reach the n ° 1 of the table of American albums.
The group is known for its tubes such as Butter And Dynamitewhich was the first K-Pop track to make its debut at the number one of the Billboard Hot 100.
The group’s seven singers plan to meet as a group in 2025, now that they have completed their service. They initially announced a break in group activities in 2022.
Last week, RM and V members were released from South Korea soldiers after carrying out their compulsory service. Jimin and Jung Kook were released a day later, and hundreds of fans – ironically known as the army – gathered to have an overview. The four were recruited in December 2023.
Six of the seven members of the group served in the army, while Suga fulfilled his duty as a social service agent, another form of military service.
Jin, the oldest member of the BTS, was released in June 2024. J-HOPE was released in October.
Mandatory service includes K-Pop stars
In South Korea, all valid men aged 18 to 28 are held by law to carry out 18 to 21 months of military service within the framework of a conscription system intended to dissuade the aggression of Rival North Korea.
Exemptions can be distributed for medical reasons, but the law also gives special exemptions to athletes, classic and traditional musicians, ballet and other dancers if they have obtained highest prices in certain competitions and are assessed as having improved national prestige. K-pop stars and other artists are not subject to such privileges.
However, in 2020, BTS postponed its service to the age of 30, after the National Assembly of South Korea revised its law on military service, allowing K-Pop stars to delay their enrollment until the age of 30.
There was a public debate animated in 2022 on the opportunity to offer special exemptions from compulsory military service for massively popular BTS members, until the group’s management agency announced in October 2022 that the seven members fulfill their functions.
