This article contains spoilers To the end of the “andor” season 2.
The gap between the “Andor” season 1 and 2 left the fans plenty of space to theory what the second installment of the “Star Wars” series can bring. And while it was always quite clear that Bix Cale (Adria Arjona) would continue to play a significant role in the story, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), many might not just guess only to guess only How central to their romance arc would be the “Andor” season 2. Cassian’s relationship with Bix is in many ways the emotional core of the season, and the exhibition explores how two people in impossible conditions can make both devastating decisions and non -broken bonds.
The end of the “andor” season 2 Bix sees safely to escape from the violence of the anti -empire war and also to give birth to a child with Cassian. It’s a beautiful moment, but one that may have surprised fans who had previously read romantic effects on Cassian’s relationships in Jyno (Felicity Jones) “Rogue One”.
Showrunner Tony Gilroy, who led the “Rogue One” event and re -relocated, recently acknowledged this fact in an interview Customization. “I felt bad for people who had invested so much time in fanification and the like,” Gilroy said. “It is not considered Canon, and it is not something I have to legally pay attention to, but people worked hard on these things, and that meant a lot to them,” he explained. “You don’t want to trail to someone’s flower garden, you know? But I have to do what I have to do.”
In every story, it is natural that there is a strong bond between the two leading characters of some fans to read the romantic intention. Cassian and Jyn have a particularly accused relationship with their relationships (and their lives) through a couple of seizures after getting the Death Star plan safely out of Scarif. First of all, there is a vaguely illuminated elevator trip that includes a common deep connection. Then the beach is hand -held while they are waiting for the Death Star to destroy them.
“I knew very well what had happened with Jyn and Cassian at the” Rogue One “event and what had happened in the elevator,” Gilroy told Collider. “And I was really happy to see how we had shaped that it was really unclear about what it was.” Gilroy compared the bond between Jyn and Cassian to any other strong Platonic connection built in battle times – something that is of great importance but does not necessarily have to be associated with a romantic relationship. Still, he knows at least a little bad carriers. “I’m sure there is someone who will never get over it,” Gilroy said. “I’m sorry. I really do.”
Even when “Rogue One” appeared, many claimed to have a romantic reading of Cassian and Jyn’s last moments. The film avoids a lot of stereotypes because they do not kiss, and their moments on the beach are all the more powerful because it is purely a person instead of accusing some kind of tragic love.
Bix might leave behind Cassian Without giving him the choice in “Andor”, but he does not seem to be bitter. He understands why he had to go and why he believed he would stay – the conviction he will be distributed by the time “Rogue One” comes around. During the film, he sometimes looks disappointed with the uprising of the rebellion, until Jyn’s new passion once again convinces him that their work is the most important thing.
On the beach waiting for death, Cassian does not mourn the future he has no. He looks completely in peace using a few words to ensure that his father was proud of him – that his sacrifice, even though it is impossible tragic, is worth it. It’s this version of Cassian that Bix sees. Knowing that his knowledge of pregnancy would push him out of the rebellion, he leaves, even though it destroys them both.
Still, Cassian finds new human connections with comrades such as Vel (Faye Marsay) and Melsh (Duncan Pow) and later with Jyn. These ties reflect the spirit of the rebellion and, as a whole, the star war – the story of non -broken life and kinships that always oppose unnatural oppression. As Gilroy set it to Collider: “Why don’t you hold someone’s hand at the end of the world?”
