Apple updates Spotlight to take actions on your Mac

Apple has announced some of its biggest updates never in light, the search function on the MAC device, for WWDC 2025 Monday. In MacOS Tahoe, Spotlight can be used to perform shortcuts and take hundreds of actions, such as e-mail drafting, reminders and reading podcasts.

Apple improves projectors while chat applications, such as Openai Chatppt and Google Gemini, increase in popularity. People around the world use command line interfaces to perform more of their tasks, and it seems that Apple updates the spotlight to be part of this change. The company claims that Spotlight becomes the fastest way to browse all the content of your Mac.

Spotlight obtains a visual overhaul, allowing users to travel more easily via applications, files, the history of the clipboard, etc. All these results are now listed together and are classified “intelligently” according to the relevance for users.

Apple has also introduced quick keys: short characters that take users directly into certain applications or actions. Mac users can type “SM” to send a message, or “AR” to add a new reminder. Users can also assign quick keys to personalized functions under the spotlight. Developers can also make their applications discoverable to Spotlight using the API of the Increte application.

In a demo, an Apple frame has shown how users could send an entire email from the projectors, filling parameters such as the recipient, the object line and the message, and even by clicking on “send” without going to another application. It remains to be seen if users will really send emails via MacOS Tahoe Tahoe.

Apple says that Spotlight is now integrated into Apple Intelligence to be contextually aware. The device research feature now suggests actions that users generally take and on the basis of users on which work on.

The Spotlight upgrade has been one of the many macos updates revealed to Apple WWDC. Apple also said that MacOS obtained a new live follow -up feature that fits into the iPhone, as well as overhaul of “liquid glass” software.
