With intelligent budget watches, we follow the same rigorous test guidelines as their premium counterpartsPay even more attention to the categories where we can see potential compromises such as the precision of the sensors and the software support.
Basics: First of all, we assess to what extent these watches are resisting real use: notifications, SMS (if available) and phone matching. We also review the experience of the companion application, which is particularly important for budgetary watches, many of which are based on proprietary applications for health data and personalization. Some may lack advanced phone integration – especially for iPhone users – so we point out these limits of our opinions.
Performance and navigation: While models at a lower cost rarely have the processing power of premium options, we assess how fluid and reactive the interface is during typical use. This includes scanning between menus, launching training, synchronization with application and response to notifications (when available).
Design and sustainability: Affordability does not have to signify a cheap quality of construction. We test comfort, adjustment and the way the watch resists daily wear. Most budgetary models are not delivered with a sustainability of military quality or ratings of high water resistance, so we are not as “raw” on these devices and only achieve what the rating has enabled, but will fully recognize this compromise in the journal.

Battery development: The intelligent budget watches tend to outperform the former with regard to the battery life due to the lower quality screen and the eager for power applications, but it is not always a fact. We start our tests with a fully loaded battery, then test the duration of the watch with normal use. This includes sleep tracking, mirror notifications of our phone and at least one outdoors (using GPS). Once drained, we are going to time the time it takes to recharge up to 100%. We will also point out all the battery saving tactics unique to this model, although our basic tests have been carried out at full capacity (not in battery saving mode).
Sensor accuracy: The quality of the sensor can be struck or missed in this category, so we make comparisons side by side with standard tools. For heart rate, we test against a chest strap during cardio training sessions. For SPO2, we use an pulse oximeter of the finger. For watches with integrated GPs, we also assess the speed with which the GPS locks for outdoor training and compare its precision to a smartphone GPS (separated from the one where it is associated). We will call all obvious inconsistencies in the route and follow -up.
In the end, we are looking for watches that offer real value and not just a long, half -cooked combination specifications sheet.
Amazfit Active 2 is a slightly more refined and costly version of BIP 6 which is our favorite budgetary choice.
