Beyonce’s Dad Weighs In on Kanye’s Controversial Social Media Rants

Mathew Knowles is hitting back after Kanye West lashed out at his grandkids.

Speaking to TMZ on Friday, March 21, Mathew — who is the father of Beyoncé Knowles — addressed the comments made by the rapper via X earlier this week.

In the online tirade post on Tuesday, March 18, the “Gold Digger” rapper questioned the intellect of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s 7-year-old twins, Sir and Rumi Carter, and referred to the children using offensive epithets. (Beyoncé and Jay-Z also share 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.)

“People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry,” Mathew, 73, told TMZ as he addressed the comments.

He added, “I’m hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs, in terms of mental health.”

Just one day earlier, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles shared a pointed Instagram message in the wake of West’s controversial comments.

“Corny joke, time! ❤️ it’s hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil,” Tina, 71, captioned a video of her telling a joke via Instagram. “But I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper.🙏🏽❤️ This battle is not mine, but the Lords, I know that God has got this.”

Tina then tried to lighten the mood by sharing what she described as a “corny joke.”

“What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown,” Tina said. “Y’all know that’s funny!”

West has subsequently apologized for speaking poorly of the couple’s children, writing in a since-deleted post via X, “I LOVE JAY Z AND I DO FEEL BAD.”

The former couple were married for more than 30 years before calling it quits in 2011. Mathew became a father again in 2010, welcoming his son, Nixon with Alexsandra Wrightas well as his daughter Koi with Taqoya Branscombin the same year.

“I hope we taught by example,” Mathew exclusively told Usadding that he and Tina prioritized exposing them to all sorts of different hobbies and career paths while they were growing up

“We’d take them to NASA, we would take them to science fairs, we’d take them to a library,” he explained. “We’d take them to sporting events (and) entertainment, and we wanted to see what they gravitated towards.”

Ultimately, Mathew admitted that “it was always entertainment” that piqued his daughters’ interest.
