Sunjay KapurA billionaire businessman died on June 12 after collapsing in a polo game in Windsor, England. He was 53 years old.
THE TelegraphWho was first pointed out the news, said Kapur died of an anaphylactic shock after swallowing a bee during a polo game at the Guards Polo Club. According to the point of sale, witnesses claim to have heard Kapur say: “I swallowed something”, before collapsing.
Sona Comstar, a company of manufacturers of car components where Kapur was the president, confirmed his cause of death in a statement, saying that he died due to a “sudden heart attack”.
“A visionary leader, Mr. Kapur played a central role in the transformation of Sona Comstar into a global mobility technology company based on innovation, sustainability and goal. His passion, foresight and incessant commitment to excellence have inspired all those who have had the privilege of working with him,” added the company.
“Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Kapur was a devoted father, a mentor to many, and a tireless defender of the manufacturing and mobility sectors of India,” they added.
“His loss is deeply felt through the industry and within the Sona Parivar.”
Guards Polo Club said Kapur died “after having become sick when he played in a match at Smith’s lawn.”

“The club sends his biggest condolences to his wife, Priya Sachdev, his children, the broader Kapur family and his Aureus teammates,” they added in an Instagram post.
Kapur was known for having participated in polo games across the United Kingdom and was invited to play with members of the royal family, including Prince William.
He attended school in India and then graduated from the University of Buckingham.
The Doon school, a boarding school in India to which Kapur frequented as a child, published a declaration on social networks after the announcement of his death.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Sunjay Kapur on June 12, 2025. An old distinguished boy, member of the Council of Governors and President of Sports and Committees of the Doon School,” the statement said. “Educated in India, the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom, he was a passionate entrepreneur and the first Indian world president of the organization of entrepreneurs.”

A few hours before his death, Kapur had shared a statement on the Air India Crash On X, writing, “a terrible news of the tragic Air India accident in Ahmedabad. My thoughts are prayers with all the affected families. That they find strength in this difficult hour. “
