About a third of American adults say they used the AI Generative tool CatWhile one in five says they have never heard of it, according to new Survey results Released this week by the Pew Research Center.
The 34% who said they used the OPENAI GEN AI tool include 58% of adults under the age of 30, the largest share of any age cohort. The share of chatgpt users decreases with age: 41% of these 30 to 49, 25% of these 50 to 64 and 10% of these 65 and over. There is also a correlation with education. Among adults holding a baccalaureate or a third cycle diploma, about half reported using the AI tool. And only 33% of those who have a college and 18% of those who have a secondary school or less diploma said the same thing. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis, CNET’s parent company, in April, filed a complaint against Openai, alleging that it violated the copyright of Ziff Davis in the training and exploitation of its AI systems.)
The use of chatgpt and other Gen AI tools has developed considerably in the past two years. Chatgpt increased in popularity at the end of 2022 and has become a familiar name in a few years since. The Pew investigation supports him. The share of American adults saying that they used Chatgpt have almost doubled since July 2023. But Chatgpt is not the only tool of this kind. Other technological companies have produced their own language models Gemini And meta- Lama.
The PEW survey, from a panel of 5,123 adults from February 24 to March 2, shows how people came to use these tools, which can perform various tasks, to write documents to provide similar responses to search results (although perhaps not as precise). 28% of adults employees said they used AI tools at work, 26% said they used it to learn something new and 22% said they used it for entertainment.
Other recent Pew results have found that many American workers had doubt about using AI in their work, and many were worried on the effects he would have. Other research has revealed that even as IA has become more and more common in the workplace, it is not without social costs, as colleagues and managers can judge those who admit use AI. Of course, not everyone uses these tools. Pew’s results revealed that 20% of adults have heard nothing about chatgpt. This figure is the highest among those over 65 at 33% or with a secondary school diploma or less to 34%.
The results of the PEW survey correspond to a distinct study Released this week by Menlo Ventures, who questioned more than 5,000 American adults on the use of AI. This study revealed that 61% of respondents said they had used AI in the past six months and that 19% interact with AI daily. Its results revealed that if generation Z had the largest share of AI users among any generation at 76%, millennials were more likely to use AI daily at 24%, compared to generation Z at 21%. The Menlo Ventures study examined the most popular AI and Found Chatgpt tools are “the default tool” of 28% of AI users, followed by Gemini to 23%.
