'Class action' or 'injunction': Legal paths to block Trump’s ban on birthright citizenship

The legal battle on President Donald Trump’s attempt to end citizenship of the right of birthday is far from over, despite a major victory for his administration on Friday which limited the use of national injunctions. The defenders of immigrants have promised to continue to fight to guarantee that the citizenship of the birth law – protected by more than a century of legal preceding – remains intact. Stephen Dreyfuss, a lawyer and former New York prosecutor, told France 24 that a “collective appeal” trial could be filed in the name of women giving birth in the United States, or that the States could request an “injunction against an illegal decree” to prevent the prohibition proposed by Trump from taking effect.
