The Portuguese star says he prefers to prepare for a “very long” season, which ends with the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Cristiano Ronaldo says he preferred to rest rather than play in the world’s club of FIFA Club when he aims to extend his player career for the club and the country.
The Portuguese international, who recently directed his country for the UEFA Nations League, comments on Saturday, two days after extension His stay at the Saudi team from the Saudi League Al Nassr.
Al Nassr announced Thursday that Ronaldo had signed a two-year contract that would maintain him at the club after his 42nd anniversary and perhaps his last appearance in the FIFA World Cup at his next iteration in the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
Speculations on the 40 -year plans intensified last month when the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, said that the discussions were underway for Ronaldo to play in the club World Cup, although Al Nassr does not qualify, but the star striker quickly dismissed them.
“I had offers to play in the [Club] World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, good preparation, because this season will be very long because it is the World Cup season at the end of the year, “said Ronaldo in a video published by Al Nassr on X.
“I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team. So that is why I decided to play the last match for the League of Nations and not listening to anything,” he added.

Ronaldo scored for Portugal in the final of the League of Nations against Spain earlier this month, which ended 2-2 before his team beats the European champions on penalties.
The captain of Portugal said that his goal of staying in Al Nassr was to win a major trophy with the Riyad -based team.
“My goal is always to win something important for Al-Nassr. And of course, I still believe it,” added Ronaldo. “This is why I renewed the two more years because I think I will be a champion in Saudi Arabia.”
Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United as a free agent, scored 93 goals in 105 appearances for them in all competitions.
Ronaldo is also considering the milestone of 1,000 goals in his career. He scored 794 goals in club football and 138 for Portugal, bringing his count to 932.
