Cristiano Ronaldo signs new contract at Al Nassr until 2027 | Football News

Ronaldo and his side of the Saudi club Al Nassr made the New Deal official via social media, ending the rumors he could sign elsewhere.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed a two -year extension with Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, the club announced, after weeks of speculation on which team he would sign for next season.

“Cristiano Ronaldo remains at @alnassrfc until 2027,” wrote the club in an article on X Thursday.

A few minutes before the official confirmation, the team published a Teaser video, with Ronaldo, 40, walking along a seaside and saying: “Al Nassr forever.”

The Portuguese superstar arrived in 2023 in the kingdom to play with the club, announcing a rush of players in the last stages of their career in the country rich in oil.

Last month, Ronaldo published “This chapter is over” a few hours after the Saudi Pro League ended with Al Nassr finishing the third and a trophy without too much.

“Ronaldo’s presence is a key factor in the development of the Saudi League in the past two and a half years. He opens the door to the elite and young players to come to Saudi Arabia,” said a source of the public investment fund (PIF), a major investor in Saudi football last month.

The PIF funded by petroleum, the sovereign fund behind a number of Saudi investments with large tickets, controls a group of league clubs, including Al Nassr, Al Hilal and Al Ahli.

Time for a title

Ronaldo’s announcement in May came only a few months after Brazilian star Neymar ended his 18 -month stay in the grip of injuries in January, after playing seven times for Al Hilal – on a reported salary of around $ 104 mm per year.

Although Ronaldo was the top scorer in the Pro League with 25 goals, he was unable to win a Saudi or continental trophy with Al Nassr, who lost in the semi-final of the Asian Champions League last month.

Last year, the five -time winner of Ballon d’Or said that he could end his career with Al Nassr, the Riyadh team favored by a number of Saudi Royals.

Saudi Arabia shaken football by spending a lot in Europe stars, starting with Ronaldo’s move at the end of 2022, and the desert nation will host the World Cup in 2034.

In the past two years, Saudi football fans could watch Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, with six golden balls between them, a weekend given during the football season in the kingdom.

However, the Saudi football project fueled by oil has established comparisons with the Chinese Super League, which imported players on exorbitant wages until the team owners were tried while the Chinese economy escaped.

But with Saudi Arabia which should accommodate the 2034 and desperate World Cup to restart as a tourist and commercial assignment before global oil demand falls for good, there is probably more of the professional league.

Ronaldo seemed to exchange an end -of -career salary for the darkness of football when he first moved to Al Nassr de Riyadh two years ago in an agreement that was worth 250 million dollars at the time.
