Diddy ‘Didn’t Know’ His Prison Call With Kanye West Was Being Recorded

A video recently surfaced showing both rappers engaging in a conversation where Diddy tells West to “be careful” as there are people trying to “end” them.

A source said Diddy is only “collateral damage” in Kanye West’s standoff with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian after he featured their daughter, North, on a song with the embattled rapper.

New reports indicate that Diddy had no idea his phone call with West was going to be recorded and subsequently made public.

A video of Diddy and West being incredibly chatty and supportive of each other was released by The Shade Room on Monday.

On their call, the embattled rapper, who is currently behind bars at the notorious Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, told West to “have some f-cking fun” while encouraging him to “get behind the mic.”

At some point, the Bad Boy Records founder lamented about the “sad” state he was in by being in jail, warning West to “be careful” as “they (are) definitely trying to end us.”

The video appeared to have been recorded by the Yeezy boss as he was directly facing the camera while talking to Diddy, but it remains unknown who exactly leaked it.

“Puff didn’t know it was being recorded (on video),” a source told the New York Postexplaining that Diddy “thought he was having a friend call him to check on his kids.”

The insider also weighed in on speculations about the authenticity of the recording, saying, “The call was real and not AI.”

It remains unclear if the recording has any legal blowback on either of them as jailhouse calls are often logged and recorded internally but mostly unavailable to the public.

“Ye is doing Ye,” the insider said of West allegedly recording the call.

“Ye wasn’t doing anything nefarious,” the source continued, adding that the recording likely “happened organically.”

The phone call recording came amid West’s fight with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian after the rapper put their eldest daughter on a song with Diddy despite her objections.

During their phone conversation, Diddy thanked West for taking care of his kids while he remains locked up, claiming that nobody has reached out to them since his arrest.

Diddy has seven children: son Christian and twin daughters Jessie and D’Lila, with his late ex Kim Porter; Quincy, his adopted son from Porter’s marriage to ex-husband singer Al B. Sure!; son Justin, and daughters Chance and Love, whom he shares with Misa Hylton, Sarah Chapman and Dana Tran, respectively.

“Diddy’s kids are in touch with Ye,” the source told the New York Post.

The “Bad Boy For Life” rapper was arrested in September for alleged sex crime offenses and is set to stand trial in May.

Seemingly speaking on his time in jail, he told West, “It’s like being left for dead. And only one person (is) coming to do anything to get you. That’s the level of appreciation that I have for you.”

Excerpts from Diddy’s call with West has now featured as the opening line on the “Carnival” rapper’s new song, “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine,” in which he featured his daughter North, whom he shares with Kardashian, as well as Diddy’s son Christian.

However, the move has now spiraled into a legal standoff between the exes as Kardashian reportedly tried to stop him from using the vocals because she doesn’t want North associated with anything concerning the alleged sex offender.

Regarding the leaked call, the insider told the news outlet, “Diddy is collateral damage in the debacle over Ye’s new song,” adding that “the beef is really with Kim.”

The situation is “a matter of older influential Black men knowing these guys are kind of flying blindly,” the insider added.

Shortly before West released the song, he shared a now-deleted series of screenshots in which he and his ex-wife seemed to be at loggerheads as he threatened to go “to war” with her.

The supposed text between the pair suggests Kardashian has the rights to North’s name and was using it to prevent her from featuring on the song, which the “Vultures 1” rapper didn’t like.

The reality TV star is reportedly upset with West for featuring their daughter on the track with Diddy.

“Kim is disgusted her daughter appears on Kanye’s new song that also features Diddy. This is disastrous. To be linked in any way with Diddy is both heartbreaking and unforgivable,” a source told the Daily Mail.

However, it’s unlikely she’ll move to secure full custody of their children, whom she shares joint legal custody with West.

“Kim will never go for full custody. Why? Because Kanye never had an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with Kim,” a source, named as Kardashian’s friend, told the news outlet. “He was her husband. No one knows Kim and her family better than Kanye, and she worries about what he could make public from their private lives.”
