Diving: Can coral reefs survive mass tourism?




On the French archipelago of Guadeloupe, thousands of divers visit the Pigeon Islands each year, putting the reef under enormous stress. Despite the warnings not to touch or stand on the coral, many corals whiten and die due to the rise in sea temperatures and the start. Despite limited rangers and in the midst of increasing environmental pressure, diving clubs and new regulations hope to protect this fragile ecosystem.
