Elon Musk is in return mode. And he does it as he knows how: by triggering flames of cultural war and dragging progressives.
The richest man in the world has just undergone one of the most humiliating stretches in his public life. What started as explosive benefits with Donald Trump, whom Musk helped return to the White House, ended with rare and unusual public apology.

This moment of contrition reported how much the quarrel had caused the quarrel, not only to the reputation of Musk with Make America Great still conservatives, but also to his businesses. Its alignment with Maga Conservatives has been reinforced not only by rhetoric but by money. Musk has contributed nearly $ 290 million to help Trump win the 2024 elections. His support has not been unwarded: Trump appointed him head of a newly created government ministry (DOGE).
But the honeymoon did not last. When Musk started publicly in disagreement with Trump on politics and power, the president was unleashed. The online spit led to the rare back-return of the Musk public, and an awareness that he may have burned too many bridges.
Now, by making fun of the “awakening” and by celebrating his supposed death, Musk seems to court the base of Trump again.
It is not clear if Musk’s return to the cultural war will be sufficient to restore his position with the extreme right. His repercussions with Trump have exposed ideological rifts based on the ego which may not be easy to repair. But Musk bet that shared enemies – liberals, Dei defenders and “awakening” – are still enough to rebuild an common ground.
After all, one thing unites the Carcles of Musk and Maga: a belief that progressive politics is the enemy, and that crushing it is a moral imperative.
While Musk tests new teslas, launches robotaxis and builds AI tools, do not expect what remains silent for a long time. He is not only fighting for influence. He fights for relevance. And at the moment, Culture War is always its favorite battlefield.
