Ford, Hyundai post higher U.S. sales in May on strong SUV, truck demand

Hyundai also reported an 8% increase in annual sliding of American automobile sales to 84,521 vehicles in May.

The company noticed a request in demand in March and April with a “little rush” from consumers having just bought because they were concerned about the potential increases in prices of the prices, said Tuesday Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, in an interview.

But no decision was made on the modification of the prices of the stickers for the vehicles of the brand following prices, added Parker.

A price protection program instituted by the automaker in early April ended on June 2 and was not extended. The program does not guarantee any hikes at the prices of stickers on new vehicles sold during the period.

“This period really marks our regular annual price exam,” said Parker. “We examine market dynamics, consumer demand, regardless of prices.”
