The triple major winner Sabalenka beats the Olympic champion in two sets to Roland Garros.
World number, Aryna Sabalenka has recovered from a slow start to systematically dismantle the Olympic champion of Paris Zheng Qinwen in a 7-6 victory (3), 6-3 which sent him to the semi-finals of France.
Sabalenka underwent his first defeat against Zheng in seven career meetings in the quarter-finals in Rome last month, and the Biélorusian took place early Tuesday in the opening set to a half full court Philippe-Chatrier.
“It was a real battle, and I did not know how I could break it and come back to the first set. I did not start well, and I am happy to have found my rhythm and win,” said Sabalenka, who got closer to a first title from French French.
“I think we are all here for a reason. Everyone wants this beautiful trophy. I am happy to have another opportunity, another semi-final to do better than the last time.
“I really hope that at the end of the Clay court season, I’m really proud of myself.”
The Zheng in China, boring to imitate the triumph of the compatriot Li Na in 2011 in Roland Garros, crushed a powerful winner of the forehand to break for a 2-1 advance, but Sabalenka moved through the Gears to level five games later and was refused from the point of view of 6-5.
The 27 -year -old seed raised the shoulders of the disappointment to slide through the break in equality when the errors slipped into the game of the eighth seeded before the players escape the ruptures in a second set in Hautocytane.
A huge forehand winner put Sabalenka 5-3, and the triple Grand Slam champion never looked back as she organized a meeting of last four people with the 13th seeded Elina Svitolina or the Quadruple Champion IGA Swiatek.
