Germany tells Apple, Google to remove DeepSeek from the country’s app stores

Germany has told Apple and Google to remove the Chinese AIPSEek application from their application stores in the country, claiming that the application illegally transfers user information in China, Reuters reported.

Meike Kamp, a German data protection commissioner, told companies that Deepseek had not provided “convincing evidence” that user data was protected as required by EU laws, according to the report.

“Chinese authorities have large -scale access rights to personal data in the field of influence of Chinese companies,” said Kamp, adding that the two technological companies must now decide to remove the application.

Kamp said his office asked Deepseek to comply with EU laws for transferring data outside the block or withdrawing his application from the country, but the Chinese company did not do so.

Italy earlier this year forbidden Deepseek of the country’s application stores, citing similar data protection problems.
