The murder of Cho Tun Aung, who was a former ambassador of Cambodia, is the last attack on figures related to the power army which launched a takeover of the country in 2021 after having deposited the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
Since the coup d’etat and the outbreak of the civil war in Myanmar, targeted assassinations have been carried out against active and high -ranking retired military officers, as well as senior officials, local officials, commercial partners in power and alleged informants.
Shortly after having carried out the assassination, the Golden Valley Warriors declared in a press release published on Facebook that Cho Tun Aung had taught internal security and the fight against terrorism in Myanmar’s National Defense College and was, by its actions, an accomplice of the atrocities committed by the army in the current civil war.
