In March 2025, HBO announced that Nick Frost – Actor, best known for his role in movies such as “Hot Fuzz” and “Shaun of the Dead” – Play Rubeus Hagrid Future TV series adaptation of the “Harry Potter” books. The announcement mostly gathered positive answers from fans because he certainly looks in part and has more than enough actors to pull it.
In Interview with ColliderFrost gave his idea of the role. In particular, he provided some idea of how he deals with the character that the late Robbie Coltrane has already described perfectly, which played Hagrid in all eight Harry Potter films.
“Even though I’m really aware of what went ahead with the incredible performance of the Robbie, I will never try to be Robbie,” Frost explained. “I try to do something, not” different “, I think you have to be respectful of the subject, but there is a minute.” Later he added “[Hagrid’s] fun! I want it to be funny and rude and scared and protective and childish. That’s what I’m going to do. “
It is a quote that demonstrates a strong awareness of how much the rope this restart is for actors and crew; They have to put their own special Spin story, which was already magnificently customized in the 2000s, but they can’t change things too much because book fans want faithful adaptation. It is particularly difficult because, in particular, adult actors were incredible in these films. Fans are sometimes mocking fun from stiff actors, but few deny adult actors to nail it. Maggie Smith professor McGonagall, Alan Rickman’s Severus Snape and Robbie Coltraen Hagrid felt exactly how readers always imagined them.
Despite the challenge ahead, Nick Frost seems to be excited to be part of the franchise program. “I think the beauty that you can make a book season means that I can explore it a lot more and I can’t wait,” he explained. The TV format means that some of the best moments of Hagrid can finally be studied on the screen. For example, the “Goblet of Fire” event has a plot where the school discovers that Hagrid is halfway; Hagrid’s depressed and scared to return to teaching, so the kids go to his cabin and try to cheer up him. It’s a very sweet moment for the movies, but the TV show would do. (Assuming, of course The “Harry Potter” series makes it to that point.)
Frost added, “I’m just so excited to get to go. I have gone to make head sculptures and hold your hand and stuff, and they say,” Oh, look at this. “And you are like ‘wow.
In addition to Hagrid’s Frost, HBO has already informed the actors of most other protagonists of the actors. Some of the most important choices so far are John Lithgow as Dumbledore– Papa Essiedu like a balconoand Janet McTeer Professor McGonagallina. All of these are not in the stone, but they are at least a promising sign for a project that otherwise has a ton of luggage. Nobody knows for sure how this new “Harry Potter” series will adapt, but at least we know the role of Hagrid in good hands.
The “Harry Potter” television program will be streamed on HBO Max for the future date.
