Hegseth says Iran’s nuclear ambitions obliterated

Secretary of defense Pete Hegseth said on Sunday that “Iran’s nuclear ambitions were erased”, a few hours after the United States attacked three Major nuclear nuclear Enrichment installations.

Hegseth, who congratulated the president Donald Trump Order as “targeted, it was powerful, and it was clear,” said the end of the evening mission was “not and was not a matter of regime change” in Iran.

“The president has authorized a precision operation to neutralize threats to our national interest posed by the Iranian nuclear program and the collective self-defense of our troops and our Israel ally,” he said at a press conference early in the morning.

Hegseth echoed the remarks made by Trump late Saturday After the attacks, when he praised the “destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity”.

But the complete extent of Iran’s nuclear capacity damage was not immediately clear.

The president of the joint staff chiefs, General Dan Caine, said on Sunday that there were “serious damage and destruction” to the facilities of FordNatanz and Isfahan, but did not go so far as to say that Iran’s nuclear capacities had been “erased”.

“The final battle damage will take some time, but the initial battle damage assessments indicate that the three sites have suffered extremely serious damage and destruction,” said Caine.

Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi On Sunday, Tehran has all the options to defend his sovereignty and people after the “scandalous” American attacks.

Caine, speaking of the pentagon podium, described a chronology of strikes on Iran, an operation which was called “Operation Midnight Hammer” by the Trump administration.

He said that some B-2 bombers that were launched in the United States on Friday at night were a lure, while the others “took place quietly in the east with a minimum of communications throughout the 18th flight”.

More than 125 aircraft participated in the operation, including stealth B2 bomber.
