“Cobra Kai” did two things that every old sequel has to do -it started effectively with a new new actor, as memorable and pleasant as the original actor’s original, while they are new and unique characters. Miguel Díaz (Xolo Maridueña) and Robbie Keane (Tanner Buchanan) started as a kind of reverse in Daniel and Johnny, but they ended up so much more during the exhibition.
And yet, the show also managed to be a rather incredible sequel to the original “Karate Kid” trilogy. Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) became a much more nuanced character, a false person in uncertainty and growing over time, while Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) turned from a simplified antagonist, a teenage bully, a complex three-dimensional character who made mistakes. In fact, “Cobra Kai” shone when it was re -thugs, bringing back John Krees (Martin Kove), Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and even Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), which makes them all forced and layered. “Cobra Kai” was a wonderful writing and an even more magnificent Casting job that is capable of removing all the actors who had been part of the Franchise program, Elisabeth Shue (who played Ali) and Roby’s Lively (who called Jessica) Sean Kanan (Mike Barnes) and William Christepher Ford (Dennis De Guzman).
It seemed that there was no “Cobra kai” “, no reference that was not too unclear that they ignored, not the Easter egg they wouldn’t want (which they wouldn’t want (including musical). And yet, in all six seasons of the exhibition, there was one person they never got to return – Hilary Swank Julie Pierce “The next Karate child”. Talking Ew“Cobra Kai” Creator Josh Heald talked about bringing Swank “and no need to commit to 10 episodes”. As he explained, “It felt like it could be one or two episodes, similar to what we did with Elisabeth Shue, where you can bring the lowest back in the central moment and influence an important relationship.” He referred to the “beginning of the” birth of the idea “.
“At the end of him, it was very respectful, but we never got the opportunity to sit down and pour in our hearts, which we typically do when we bring characters from the inheritance,” Heald continued. “He was just in a place where he didn’t want to do so. He had babies. I think he was in production at the time, and it was a respectful transfer even to the idea of the meeting. He didn’t want us to go through the trouble and put our hearts on the sleeve because it was not ready to do at that time.”
Actually we had already written Showrunners attempts to contact Hilary Swank and never get an answer. It is particularly regrettable because the “next karate” child is much better than the reputation you believe. It is a different protagonist than DanielThe thematic sequel “Karate Kid Part III” Julie, who is angsty and frustrated, and offers Miyag the opportunity to teach her how to learn a balance differently than Daniel san. Sure, the movie wasn’t awesome, but if someone found a way to make Julie’s character even better and redeem his film, it would be Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.
Once again, if the audience has learned from “Cobra Kai”, it is never to stop faith. As Heald told EW, “It was a bit disappointing to us because we like getting everyone, but at the same time we did not sacrifice any great story we had completely developed. It is more fruit in vine if we can check this universe forward.”
You really don’t know what could happen. The team is definitely interested in doing more franchise and has talked about their ideas for a spin-off series. Perhaps this is the key to the sequel to “Karate Kid: Legends”, which brings Daniel and Julie Miyag as a legacy of Jackie Chan.
