I Like to Watch TV on Camping Trips, and an iPad Doesn’t Cut It, So I Pack This Portable Projector

  • Anker’s Nebula Mars 3 Air is a compact portable projector with a reasonable price of $ 599 (and it is often available for less).
  • Despite its size, it offers a bright image and a strong sound for a portable projector. It can even double as a Bluetooth speaker.
  • Its size is ideal for cinema evenings or car campsite, but could be a bit large for backpackers.

I recently made an epic trip trip through a country of giants, and there is only one compact projector that I would take with me to finish my camping experience.

Anker’s Nebula March 3 Air Make my nights at Kings Canyon National ParkHouse of the largest grove of redwood trees in the world, even more picturesque, without taking up too much space.

I Review the spotlight For Cnet, and I also have Built a DIY motorhomeSo I know that a lot of Best portable projectors sacrifice too much for their size. Not this one. With the side of my van (which is conveniently white) is coupled with a screen, I saw some episodes of Andor I had downloaded from Disney + after sunset at the campsite, capping a beautiful day in nature with the right mixture of light image, noisy audio and portability.

If you want to watch a film with the family during the campsite, and the entrance around an iPad does not cut it – it’s the way to follow.

My experience with the aerial of March 3

Regarding performance, March 3 air is doing very well for its size and price. In my laboratory, I measured a 405: 1 contrast report, which is not incredible, but it is better than most portable projectors. This means that the image does not seem washed or flat. (You can see all my test data in my guide Best portable projectors.)

Regarding sound, the two 8 Watts loudspeakers in the 3 air play hard, offering performance similar to many Bluetooth speakers, which is suitable because it can also double as a Bluetooth speaker.

The battery life is also good. You should be able to get about 2.5 hours of play for video and 8 hours if you use it as a Bluetooth speaker. In a disappointing way, it cannot recharge via USB, so you will need to connect to the alternating power power to load it.

What makes air Mars 3 The best portable projector option for camping trips is how it does everything well without doing anything particularly. It is also very easy to use.

It works on a full version of Google TV, so it has access to all typical streaming services. Many portable projectors have only streaming applications, and if they support certain streaming applications, they may not support complete versions of applications, which can make portable projectors more difficult to use.

Keep in mind that the easiest way to watch shows and movies on the air Mars 3 is to make your phone a hot spot. If you have no service where you are, as in many national parks, you must download programs and films in advance. This can only be done via A mobile device connected with HDMIAnd sometimes not even, according to your phone. Something other than you want to keep in mind: this projector does not show a complete frame with a USB-TO-HDMI.

CNET purchase advice

March 3 air is the best versatile portable projector because it does most of the things, some things very well and almost nothing wrong. It looks good, it sounds well and doesn’t take up much space.

There are two other options I mean that could be better in certain situations. The first is its own anker Capsule air. It is the size of a soda box, which makes it even more portable than March 3. It is also integrated into Google TV, is powered by battery, can be used as a Bluetooth speaker and (unlike the air Mars 3) that it can load via USB-C. This means that you can have longer visualization sessions between the loads as long as you have a battery bank. It is darker and cannot however play as loudly as March 3 air.

The other option is the AAXA M8. It is also much smaller than the air of Mars 3, and much brighter and cheaper. Overall, it looks pretty good, although its colors are quite strange. He also has extremely strong fans, and streaming options are much more limited. If you want to create larger images than TV on the road and don’t bother screaming small fans while you look, the M8 could work better for you than March 3 air.

The Anker Mars 3 Air is the best overall, and this is the one I will take with me during my next trip.
