‘I would like to come back one day’ says Pochettino

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says he would love to return to the club one day.

The 53-year-old is manager of the United States but took Spurs to a Champions League final during his stay before being sacked in November 2019.

He steered the club to four successive top-four finishes in the Premier League and had title challenges in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, and despite since managing Chelsea and Paris St-Germain says he has a good relationship with Spurs chairman Daniely Levy.

“When I left the club I remember I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham,” he told Sky Sports.

“I am now in the USA but what I said, still after six or five years, I still feel in my heart that, yes, I would like one day to come back.”

Tottenham are 14th in the league table having collected just 34 points from 29 games and their season seems to rest on the Europa League.

Levy has seen fans protest against him of late, but Pochettino added: “It’s true after nearly six years with all that we lived together was tough because I think there were too many up and downs and emotional things that we lived through.

“One thing was professional, another personal and now, like the day after we left Tottenham, we keep always a very good relationship.”

The US have qualified for the World Cup next year as hosts, along with Mexico and Canada.
