Ving Rhames has played the Superhacker Luther Screll event in all eight modern “Mission: Impossible” films (although he only appeared in the 2011 “Mission: Impossible -Ghost Protocol” campaign). He was always a faithful friend Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and was always able to the keyboard. In the eighth and last movie of the series, 2025 “Mission: Impossible – Final Calculation” Luther was capable and inventive to create a Widget who was able – when Juuus was used properly – to overcome the evil ai monster called entity. Luther invented Widget essentially his death bed, spending most of his time in the hospital in Gurney, located in a remote, rocky basement room.
The villain of the “Final Reckoning”, Gabriel (Esai Morales), is so bad, he has no problems planting a time bomb in Luther’s cell, even though the bad Luther was wasted out of cancer. In the climate scene, Ethan and Luther are on both sides of the blocked gate, and Luther was locked with Gabriel’s bomb. Luther finds a way to reduce the damage caused by the bomb, which saves Ethan’s life. However, in order to do so, he should sacrifice his own life. Noble soul Luther accepts his fate. His last act was to save lives.
Luther’s sacrifice, “Final Reckoning” writer/director Christopher Mcquarrie was necessary. Internal- Recent interview with Empire magazineMcquarrie stated that one of the longest and most beloved characters in the series would kill classically screenwriting terms would raise the stakes. Luther is the only character, except Ethan, who has appeared in every “M: I” movie, so his life was most worthy. The audience of his killing knew that the whole did not affect and that everyone was in danger, possibly even Ethan.
Mcquarrie also stated that Luther’s death was not only a plot function, but a gift for a talented actor like Rhames. Because the Rhames character was a computer hacker, many of his scenes were in dark vans or in front of the computer screen; He was rarely allowed to get into action. Ethan was the one who was able to climb the buildings or get on a motorcycle yacht. Not only was Rhames been able to break the bomb in a dramatic way, but also play a death that many Actors enjoy. As Mcquarrie described it:
“The story concerned sacrifices. The sacrifice of the movie had no teeth without it, without loss. […] It was a sacrifice to which the ving bowed completely. […] It was one he wanted to do, and one of him was most moved. […] Ving is such a phenomenal actor, such is given by an actor, and Franchise did not give him these opportunities. I said, “We must get him out of the van and give him more emotional stuff to play.” And he bowed to it. This was already formed in the “Fallout”. “
McQuarrie’s 2018 film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” was the sixth in the movies of the modern era.
In the same Empire article, Mcquarrie has said that he has done “mission: impossible” films that have directed four. Also, “Final Reckoning”, as refers to the title, wrap the story. If there is another “Mission: Impossible” movie, it seems more likely that it is a reboot of the franchise instead of the second sequel. However, Mcquarrie also suggests that his star/producer Tom Cruise may not have been made and that he can be induced if the cruise is asked. “Tom Cruise is the power of nature and very, very difficult,” he said.
Mcquarrie has said, As /Film reportsThat he works on a new project and the one he wants to be a lot of Gnarlier. Ving Rhames’ next movie, “Uppercut”, is currently in post -production and is preparing for the stars with “Mongoose” Liam Neeson.
