Initially called “iOS in the car”, ” Apple Carplay has traveled a long way in the last decade. He now supports iphone Connections for more than 800 different models of cars and motorcycles. It is also about to go through a massive overhaul with a multitude of new features.
Apple updates the Carplay experience with the new revelation iOS 26. Apple announced the changes during its annual WWDC event in Cupertino, California, June 9.

“We have also added new features to help you connect by driving, such as a compact design when you receive a call, so that you can always see what is on the screen, like your coming instructions, as well as Tap Backs and pinned conversations in messages,” said Emily Schubert d’Apple during the Keynote wwdc.
There are also vehicle orders in Apple Carplay, including radio and climate checks.
You can use Apple Carplay to control the climate in your car.
Apple sequences during Keynote have also shown that you can send emoji reactions to messages when traveling, without moving away from your routes. You can also see things like calendar reminders and smart house controls in widgets on the side of the screen.
Apple launched Carplay Ultra Last month, provide more personalized features for car manufacturers to include.
“It provides information for all driver’s screens, including real -time content and gauges in the instrument group, while reflecting the appearance and sensation of the automaker and offering drivers a customizable experience,” said Apple in a blog article in May.
All the new features of Carplay to come in iOS 26
Here is an overview of new main features that will be added to Carplay with the launch of iOS 26.
Liquid glass design
Like an iPhone with iOS 26, Carplay will get the same translucent design revision that Apple calls Liquid glassWith buttons that add a feeling of depth. Carplay icons may not have the same mobile effect as on your iPhone, but they will have the same brilliant and glass appearance.
Compact view
One of the new most welcome features in Carplay with iOS 26 is a new view that does not interrupt your navigation when telephone calls are arrived. Instead of taking control of the whole screen, incoming calls will now appear in a smaller window at the bottom, you can therefore see rotating directions.

New features in messages
The messages on Carplay with iOS 26 will add the possibility of responding with tapbacks like the thumb up, thumbs up, a heart or exclamation marks. It will also allow you to pin messages at the top of the interface.
New incidents to report in cards
The cards will soon add three new types of incidents to report in Carplay. In addition to existing accidents, speed controls and dangers, iOS 26 update will also include road works, road closings and traffic.
Video streaming when parking
The new carplay with iOS 26 will broadcast your videos on your car screen from your iPhone using AirPlay. As soon as your car starts to move, the feature should be deactivated. Whether or not you can broadcast the video may depend on your car model.
Live activities and widgets
New live activities in Carplay will provide real -time information while you are driving.
Using Carplay with iOS 26, the same widgets you have on your iPhone should work in your car. Widgets are currently only available via the Premium version of Apple from the Service, Carplay Ultra. You will also soon be able to see real -time updates and information from live activities such as flight trackers.
Smart display zoom
When this new feature is activated in Carplay with iOS 26, the carplay interface will automatically resize to best use the available screen space, whatever its size. For example, a smaller screen will reduce the size of the icons so that two rows of application icons can adapt correctly.
